If you are a representative or foster home for a shelter or rescue group with a diabetic cat, we can help in a few ways:
- Sending insulin (limit 20/year) and testing supplies
- Posting the cat(s) for adoption on our Facebook page
Please email Lisa@dcin.info for assistance.
DCIN Recommendations for Diabetic Cats in Shelters:
We are pleased to announce the release of “DCIN Recommendations for Diabetic Cats in Shelters”: https://dcin.dreamhosters.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/DCIN-shelter-recommendations.pdf
This one-page document, prepared with oversight from Dr. Renee Rucinsky at Mid Atlantic Cat Hospital (and one of the co-chairs of the 2018 AAHA Diabetic Guidelines for Dogs & Cats), is intended to assist shelters with diabetic cats under their care. We encourage all shelters to review this document with their medical teams and shelter veterinarians. If you volunteer at a shelter, please share this document with your shelter!
We also would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Rucinsky at Mid Atlantic Cat Hospital for her assistance in the preparation of this document! Please email THH@DCIN.info for more information.
